ArchZone took on and completed the refurbishment of a 4th floor condo in the Mets area, with excellent views to the Acropolis. The concept was born out of the desire for a modern space with minimalist lines and unique design, taking into consideration the need for a working area. These demands were a crucial factor in determining the design of the whole apartment. The communal areas stand out in the project plan because of the wood paneling and the grey walls. The aim is for the design to act as an indirect pointer from the main entrance towards the home office. This distinction is marked on the floor plan as the day zone, which comprises the living room, kitchen and home office, versus the night zone, which comprises the two bedrooms and the apartment’s bathrooms. Due to limited space, and for reasons of privacy, “hidden” storage areas were created behind the wood paneling (storage & washing machine unit, wardrobe). A typical feature of the communal areas is also the optical escapes seen both on the ceilings, with the linear lighting fixtures, and the furniture, where a concept of slanting lines is strictly adhered to.
