Sitting on 45 000 sq. ft. of land, the house is built for the client and his family who are frequent entertainers with a desire for generous spaces for hosting events of various scales.
The massing is a deep square block that is spatially delineated into 9 smaller grids punctuated with courtyards that bring light and natural ventilation to every area of the deep building form. Within, courtyards and bedrooms anchors then main blueprint, while the communal living spaces surrounds the courtyard as cloisters.
Internally, the roof slopes towards the courtyard in a reverse pitch fashion resulting in a undulating fabric of highly pleated ceiling forms. Simple architectural materials were used, expressing the undulating timber ceiling as the main architectural feature. At nightfall, fragments of these undulations are revealed on the façade, revealing the intricacy within.
