A permeable relationship between indoor and outdoor, heightened by a seamless connection to nature, underpins the design of the show flat for Clarion – a bespoke six-storey mixed-use development with a level of detailing unusual in the multi-residential sector. Structurally, the design reflects a tectonic approach with a robust façade crafted from scalloped pre-cast concrete, punched openings for windows and balconies taking cues from warehouse living and the industrial heritage of the area. This sense of place extends inside the apartments where the playful textures of the pre-cast fluted concrete façade is juxtaposed with a beautifully sumptuous interior, pure and timeless in form and palette, and with a slight edge of industrialism. Warm tones are accentuated by terrazzo and rich marble whilst iron-bronze tactile detailing complements the cooler tones of the shell. Fluted glass talks to the facade providing a fine interior grain. Each home is completed by a fireplace sat on a generous concrete hearth, an internal lush green courtyard enjoyed from master bathroom, corridor and secondary bedroom whilst retaining privacy through offset viewing angles. The Clarion show flat reflects this continuous language and sense of place with little distinction between exterior and interior and embedding sustainability into everyday living.
