Chuanhuo · National Trend Cultural Theme Restaurant
Nothing But Design x Chuanhuo, have jointly created a boutique hot pot restaurant under the theme of national trend culture in the next generation. Through a “steampunk” design approach, traditional Chinese cultural elements and contemporary trendy symbols collide, graft and eventually fuse with the old and the new in the identical space and time, while the construction of the visual system also adheres to a flat visual symbol output, which ultimately delivers a new trendy dining space immersive experience with intense visual impact and a high degree of unity, thereby delivering the essence and value of the Chuanhuo brand.
The spatial installation wall in the reception area introduces architectural thinking, with a striking matrix of sequences and hierarchical shapes formed by geometric proportions. The interior of the wall is manually constructed with bricks made of stainless steel, which is inspired by the red brick element commonly employed in ancient Chinese architecture. In conjunction with the red metal mesh, the wall is lightly wrapped with an innovative material and technique to accomplish a collision and fusion between the old and the new, which has endowed the spatial field and traditional culture with new vitality.
The design team intends to spread and perpetuate the deep-rooted traditional Chinese culture in the form of spatial design by extracting the artistic treasure created and passed down from generations of Sichuan opera artists -- the “opera facial makeup” of Sichuan opera, which is applied to all the original custom-made lamps in the restaurant. The linear patterns and color features of the “opera facial makeup” of Sichuan opera are reconstructed through contemporary design techniques, and the flat outline of the opera facial makeup appears when looking up, which illuminates the dining space in dark tones, as if immersed in the extensive and profound rhythm of Sichuan opera.
The modernist approach is combined with traditional Chinese cultural elements, with the addition of “steampunk” style industrial elements symbols, the delicate lighting arrangement avoids the minor issue taking precedence over a major one, which places emphasis on the perception of people in the space. The old and the new collide and form a fusion, thereby creating a new experience of space full of visual impact and artistic national trend.
Traditional and contemporary, products of different time and space dimensions are not opposed to each other. NBD is not limited to a certain fixed style label, in the hope of committing to exploring more possibilities of space through inheritance, fusion, transformation and innovation, while empowering the brand and national trend culture to generate sustainable vitality in a higher dimension.
