Gate of the orient shop

The city of Suzhou is famed as the ‘Venice of the East’. It is surrounded by water which demonstrates the harmonious relationship between nature and its residents. We incorporate the elements extracted from ‘city of water’ into the ‘gift’ theme, so as to present this experience store in Suzhou.

Innovation : The element of ‘city of water’ was actually applied by so many designers in various area. It can be considered as a common design concept. Therefore, it is a challenge for us to break through the tradition and make the space more poetic, artistic and innovative by integrating this common design concept. Water is the soul of Suzhou, so the guests may see these water-related elements throughout the shop. Water usually flows under our feet, but we ‘moved’ the river in Suzhou to the ceiling. Looking up, you can see green boats moving in different directions - some look like the boatman propped up his long pole and prepared to sail to afar; some seemed to have just docked by the river, waiting for the guests to chat and enjoy the cool air onboard.

Creativity : We put a lot of thoughts into the ceiling to present the feeling that water and sky are connected together. The sky is in the water and the water is also in the sky. The appearance of the boat is different from the one in one’s mind. They manifest themselves as the ripple patterns because their reflection in the water is disconnected, which appears after droplets drop into the river. The section of the ceiling imitates the rippling, ups and downs of the river surface, which is presented with a curvy silver material and extends to the wall.

Functionality : The treatment of the mirror surface of the ceiling and the walls further restores the unique visual experience of the ‘city of water’. We have visualized the shape of water so that the whole space is surrounded by water. When people enter the jewellery shop as if they are in a calm underwater world. We created a main design concept ‘Gift’ theme series for our client because people usually put precious jewellery in box as gifts to send to their beloveds. Besides, we add various elements in every shop to enrich the design idea and visual effect. Therefore, in this shop with the concept of 'city of water', you can see many gift boxes displayed on the wall and the floor. Combined with the shimmering walls around the gift boxes, it seems like these boxes filled with jewels are floating effortlessly.

Sustainability : We would like to make the whole space durable and timeless, which can sustain for a long time. Therefore, we chose to use the proper material and the green and silver colors which is comfortable for visual experience to present this store.
