Dual ideas for the project:

A PATH of MOMENTS
Our goal is to create a unique chapel that has a strong identity of its own by equipping the space with new unified spatial aesthetics, and facilitating the place into a soul-cleansing space. Therefore, a series of Unique Moments is framed along the Path from Arrival Lobby towards Chapel Altar with specific architectural interventions and forms.

HABITABLE ARCHES in Diamond-shaped Chapel
Inspired by rows of large punch windows along the building façades on two streets, it is our mission to bring this space, in a Hong Kong typical podium typology, entering in dialogue with natural daylight. Instead of longitudinal shape, new Chapel is constructed into a Diamond-shaped volume with Altar away from street sides. All audiences are brought closer to the Altar, with a fan-shaped seating arrangement.

“Habitable Arches” are custom-made and wrapped along periphery of the entire Chapel. The Arches in variety of sizes and forms serve as “Spatial Wall” dividing one from outside city, as well as “Light Diffuser” to soften natural light through sheer shade.

The connected Arches are subtly articulated by artificial light inside as well as by floor up-light at its footing, which forms a tranquil arcade-like layer, to guide one along the passage and bring one close to the idea of holiness and peace.
