The project is located in The Roof, a new iconic landmark in Xintiandi, the core area of Shanghai's central business district. The Roof was designed by award-winning French architect Jean Nouvel. The history of old Shanghai has left a profound impact on this neighborhood. The design team wants to create an urban space that blends together the city's fabrics, vibrant parasol trees, traditional alleys, and residential-style greenery. Also, it valued and implemented the four principles of "art, humanism, efficiency, and warmth". Focusing on the emotional needs of employees, the design team explored the new aesthetic values of future workspace by incorporating nature and art.

Shanghai's unique metropolitan cityscape and historical context shaped the distinctive culture that blends the Eastern and Western aspects, and have formed the city's inclusive spirit. Rich, diversified urban elements converge here. The old houses standing on Madang Road carry the traces of the past days. The site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the former site of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, and etc, are concentrated on this old road. The red and green bricks of Shikumen tell the stories of the glorious days in the past. The history of old Shanghai has left a profound impact on this block area, vibrant parasol trees, traditional alleys, the designer hopes to integrate the design into the atmosphere and urban texture of the old Shanghai to create a nature-friendly and residential-style greenery space. By integrating Shanghai traditional cultural elements with modern design features, it is expressed with bold design techniques, inheriting culture with design, and redefining urban office space.

With the theme of Enjoy Life in Work, Inspire Work in Life, this is a space that revolutionizes traditional office form. It accommodates office area, coffee bar, open kitchen, book bar, single-user acoustic office pods, multi-functional conference rooms, and salon area, etc. This is not only a workplace, but also provides a venue for holding art salons, movie parties, academic meetings, coffee cuppings, and other business and leisure activities. It is also an exhibition hall of the world's top materials, a museum of material brands. The latest materials of top brands worldwide are exhibited along the walls, forming a display gallery to be appreciated while walking. By thinking out of the box, the design adopted a mix-and-match approach to create a casual elegance. The integration of greenery, CBD landscape, sunshine, industrial-style elements and visually dramatic paintings makes the coffee bar appear like a small art gallery. The open kitchen incorporates Oriental catering etiquette. The island provides a space for drinking or buffet dinner, satisfies diverse needs and shows versatility of the space. It is a place to enjoy a fabulous experience, to feel our value, and to make work more than just work.
