The mission was to design a stylish open-plan working space in a typical pre-fabricated industrial structure. It should be a nice working place, with green plants. Great attention should be paid to lighting, both natural and artificial,
The solution has been found by installing the desks around large wax-treated iron containers, full of green plants that divide each working place avoiding panels or walls.
Sliding doors let the open spaces connected, even when the rooms are divided by walls, thanks to the addition of a glass section on top of them.
As regards decoration, only a few tonalities have been chosen: black for sliding doors and desks, a delicate green at the walls, finished with a white baseboard, to recall a style typical of early XX century in Italy. Pre-existent columns and structural walls are painted in white. A touch of warm is given by the parquet, made of reclaimed oak, and by the gold finished wall lamps and brass ceiling lamps.
Natural lighting is granted by the skylights set over each planter, to let plants grow well as well, and by large windows. Artificial lighting is provided by a selection of wall and ceiling lamps by Catellani & Smith, which are also functional to display a selection of the lamps manufactured by the owner in an usual context. At the same time, they make the working space more similar to an elegant living space rather than a standard office.
