Challenged to design a speculative office building that would attract creative office tenants to Silicon Beach, C3 challenges the traditions of design, construction, and leasing by emphasizing volume and adaptability within a semi-private space. The core concept of the project is to provide a hackable core-and-shell infrastructure where tenants are free to express their brands.

Designed as a vertical creative campus, C3 is composed of seven full-sized floor plates featuring high ceilings. This flexible design is inspired by industrial warehouse-style, bowstring truss buildings. This office typology for creative tenants in the Southern California marketplace allow C3 to provide highly sought-after qualities such as: individual front doors, hackability, volume, flexibility, interactive, personal amenities, adaptability and diversity. While the limited supply and lack of square footage for growing tenants keep it from dominating the marketplace, these parameters guided the building design toward the concept of vertically stacked warehouses to accommodate more usable space.

A seven-story building located on a three-acre site, C3 addresses market demands while utilizing a limited amount of resources and land in the west of Los Angeles. The project utilizes an efficient envelope and relatively inexpensive construction methods, while emphasizing adaptability and personalization. C3 replaces architectural iconography with remarkable volume and flexibility.
