Bunk is sexy, cheeky, bold, innovative, cosmopolitan, unique, charismastic, sustainable, locally connected and a little crazy. We are a fresh, dynamic brand built upon the shoulders of traditional businesses, creating new solutions for the demands of a cosmopolitan, cultural and brand-aware audience. With all of our creativity and trendiness, our spaces offer both clarity and functionality, using technology to simplify – not complicate – our lives.

Bunk bridges the gap between hotels and hostels by combining affordable, small luxury rooms and smartly designed, private single and double pods, redefining hospitality by creating opportunities for communal wonderment, hosting inclusive social events in our sustainable restaurants and other common spaces. Bunk Amsterdam houses a sharing-is-caring recording and streaming studio focused on a wide spectrum of contemporary underground electronic dance music.

Artists can create sets and podcasts in our non-profit studio, designed to help artists inspire, comfort, amplify, support and enlighten listeners (and viewers) around the globe. Creatives can also stay and work at Bunk by participating in our artist-in-residence programme. Churches have always been an important meeting point within cities. In Holland, many have lost their religious function, due to secularisation and ageing populations. Sible de Blaauw, a professor of Early Christian Arts and Architecture, said in his lecture, “De Versteende Droom,” “a church is more than just a building, and derives its meaning from the interplay between architecture, visual arts and interior arrangement, as defined by the liturgy.” Bunk upholds this idea.

We have converted churches and monumental buildings into the beating social heart of the community, where the voices of a city are heard, stimulating city life in place of disturbing it, where modest dreams morph into reality. We preserve monumental aspects of our buildings, with a ‘reversible-concept’ allowing the buildings to serve public purposes for decades to come. We revive valuable monuments through minimal modifications.

When buildings are given a new purpose, the relationship between interior and exterior changes. Our interior isn’t just functional, but attractive, designed in close collaboration with 40 local creative talents. While sleeping options differ in size, privacy and budget, the design of each space embraces the church’s unique quirks. Our innovative approach to reinvigorating buildings of historical significance to the community has created a space for people from all walks to come together, converse, connect and create. Bunk represents a symbiosis between location, our guests and our surroundings.

To create a unique experience for travellers, we developed 50 pods – the first to introduce this sort of accommodation to Europe. Built between the monumental arches of the church, these thoughtfully designed cabins combine maximum privacy with minimal cost for a travel experience like no other.
