With an overall sense of refined conviviality, Botanist was conceived of as a series of micro-ecologies within a space rooted in the terra firma of the Pacific Northwest. Through shifts in the intensity of texture, material & light, each space occupies a distinct layer in the spatial narrative. The intent was to see local materials anew for their exotic, almost supernatural beauty where they vacillate between two categories: raw + refined. Natural stones of terrazzo, quartzite, limestone, granite contrast the highly articulated millwork & curvaceous, rich, leather banquette seating.

The Champagne Lounge features knife-pleated drapery, rose-colored hues & gold-decked bar carts, keeping it proud yet playful. The Cocktail Bar, monolithic + sculptural, with a darker palette of Italian Terrazzo serves as the backdrop & references early modernism & the powerful architecture of the quarry. Next to the Cocktail Bar is The Garden where plant-life is the most intense expression of botany, brimming with plant species. Enclosed in a minimal glass room, the striking & peregrine beauty of horticulture is exhibited.

The focus in the dining room is the subtle but rich natural tones of limestone, granite, whitewashed woods alongside ornate metalwork where plants creep. The dense foliage acts as a gentle counterpoint to the substantial materials & vital in achieving the peripheral lush atmosphere.
