Lüchinger Architects have designed a building that is characterised by its flowing lines, transparency and free routing through the building. The open floor plans and liberal use of glass allow various programme elements to be viewed simultaneously. The three floors can be reached by stairs or using the fully transparent lift. A void offers a view of the floor with an interactive test set-up and other activities undertaken by Bolidt. As such, a closed industrial complex has been transformed into an open machine where visitors are introduced to all aspects of the business.

Kossmann.dejong followed up on Lüchinger's vision by giving shape to the leitmotif of chemistry and openness, even in the functional components.
The manner in which an unobstructed view is offered of the workings of the machine is the product of a fruitful collaboration between the two parties. The integrated design allows visitors to take a look behind the scenes, i.e. the offices, laboratories, brainstorming rooms and logistics, as well as the non-stop activity of forklift trucks and lorries. All these elements have a functional design and simultaneously tell their own story, so that visitors sense Bolidt's DNA throughout the building.
