"Wandering at the lakeside area of Macau, tasting a bowl of authentic Thai boat noodles, and instantly dreaming back to the lively street food market on the shore of Bangkok."

As a devotee of Thai culture, the two founders of Boatmum Noodles held their tenacious attitude that "every mouthful of soup should be authentic" when they decided to open a new branch store in Macau island. The design team of R'Atelier and the two founders soon reached a consensus that the space, atmosphere, decorations, and interior material should demonstrate the spirit and essence of Thai local street food culture - the new branch store environment visually draws inspiration from the local residential buildings in the alleys of Bangkok.

In particular, a collection of iconic Thai alley elements are aggregated and transformed to create the scenery of the busy local streets, such as the facades of aged tin houses, handcrafted house gates with craved patterns, mottled red brick walls, patterned floor tiles, etc.

To strengthen the narrative of locality, bespoke Thai language neon lights are hung all over the store, and the antique cola advertisement plates and secondhand nostalgic movie posters directly imported from Thailand are like letting the diners immerse themselves in the busy Thai market in a second.

Sitting on the remade stools upcycled by old soda boxes, the large glass facade introduces the noisy road scenery on the street. The smell of herbs comes with the taste of mouthwatering hot boat noodles prepared by the Thai chef. The five senses experience in space tells the story of two enthusiatic founders at Boatmum Noodles, while every diners enjoy their boat noodles.
