Al Tayer Insignia opened their second Bloomingdale’s project in Kuwait in March of 2017. This is Bloomgindale’s second location outside of the United States, and is a large-scale project which brings the brand hallmarks to the Kuwait retail scene. The shop is built around the demands of Kuwait’s international and savvy female clientele by building a luxurious, contemporary environment around the world’s latest-and-greatest of fashion and beauty trends. The modern approach merges hospitality, retail, and service for a seamless retail experience. Dedicated to the high-touch and VIP services expected by the local consumer, services include private selling rooms, stylist guides, and skin testing rooms, which showcase a scientific level of detail. Services are led by technological integration by mirroring consumer interaction with ecommerce, such as offering shoppers the option to order products online and try on in-store. The design concept behind the new location pays homage to classic New York luxury within the context of modern day Kuwait. A café concept adjacent to the shoe department, known as Scene, is reminiscent of an iconic New York apartment and includes an indoor, terrace inspired area. The department store strikes a perfect balance between classic Bloomingdale’s icons and contemporary retail design, digital and physical retailing, a well as a customer navigation that is equipped to be both highly staff led or self-navigated.
