The design of the show is based on the narrative of duality and separation. The divide between the artists is expressed with two catwalks that extend into the stadium allowing the performers to address different parts of the audience. Throughout the show, video interstitials are played out on a massive unobstructed screen that encapsulates the theatrical movie. At first the video screens seem solid, dominating the stadium, but as the show unfolds the screen reveals itself to be kinetic and transparent. It can separate to create different entrances and apertures. The largest opening reveals a central construction called the ‘performer wall’. This 4-storey high structure allows performers to appear at any of the 20 smaller openings to create a kinetic sculpture.

OTR II uses a double layer of video content that creates a world within the set that is very dimensional and is able to transform to create different locations, portraits, film reel and landscapes. The spectacular visuals and use of Imag in the main video screen together with the dynamic staging creates an immersive experience for all.

As the narrative of the show plays out, the divide and separation turns to reconciliation when the front half of the stage rises up and tracks half the length of the stadium over the audience with Beyoncé & Jay Z on top. This engineering masterpiece, bridges the divide and unites the audience to allow the story to be completed.
