Innovation: The corporate design identity of Basecamp is about creating unique, authentic and interactive spaces, full of expressive colors and forms, strong materials, and unexpected functionalities.

The main goal is to bring the generation Z together from all over the world within a more and more dynamic, networked world, driven by tendencies as such as individualization, mobility and technology.

Basecamp offers to students not just a place to live, but a diverse range of residential elements, where they can study, meet friends, celebrate and feel home building friendships for life.

Creativity: STUDIO AISSLINGER was fascinated by the dynamics of the young Basecamp community and the campus-like architecture in Göttingen. They played above all with the contrasts between the real and the metamorphic levels of the theme of "time"; the factor of time as a historical and cultural event, the spatial quality factor of "time" or exploring current events in the sense of the zeitgeist.

Enter the time machine and see where your imagination can take you...

This thematic exploration plays into all concrete design ideas and turns the entire building into a cabinet of curiosities reflecting different complexities, spatially and thematically.

Functionality: The various common areas were thus designed with different areas of emphasis. Playful interventions shape the user experience of these worlds. Users move through a modern interpretation of the Renaissance to a retrospect of David Bowie, from areas of Time-Travel to a Dadaist dream world. In the community spaces, users have opportunities to collaborate or to have moments of privacy. Fitness and yoga areas are contrasted with recreational spaces to promote physical and mental health of the users and the community.

The rooms and communal kitchens are designed for a high level of comfort, functionality and quality of stay. The rooms utilize colorful fixtures and bright timber to bring naturality and a youthful exuberance to the space. In addition, the community kitchens employ quality materials and custom designed furniture to create a sense of community for the student population.

Sustainability: Durable, long-lasting materials, the usage of European suppliers of furniture with short delivery ways and the participation in sustainability programs as such as LEEDS, BREEAM and DGNB in general, is a key value for Basecamp developing Properties.

Fabrics and furniture created from recycled PET have been selected, curtain fabric throughout the entire project have been deliberately selected for their sustainability and life span – promoting the idea that quality ensures less turn over in products across the lifespan of the building by inspiring also its users of the space.
