On the Kustlaan in Knokke-Heist, one of Flanders' hotspots, AQUALEX is opening its first concept store. A shop full of water taps? Nah. AQUALEX aims higher and looks further. Think rather of a world of experience dedicated to one of the most essential and evocative phenomena on earth: water. It is not easy to pigeonhole new concepts like the AQUALEX concept store. It can best be described as a combination of art gallery, showroom and themed space. Art gallery: you look at and buy art collections and exclusive objects. Showroom: you can discover AQUALEX's very latest tap creations. Themed space: everything revolves around one theme, water. The interior was designed by the design studio Maister.
The cylindrical central tube draws you in and lets you discover the works of art, design objects and AQUALEX creations through different compartments. The ground floor contains a bar, with sitting and meeting areas. The building initially presented Maister with some challenges: it is narrow, low and deep - just the opposite of what you would expect from a showroom. But that is how it goes with creative minds: they turn apparent disadvantages into unique assets. The choice of a central cylindrical corridor emphasises the specific features of the building and ensures that passers-by are sucked into the space. This tube, a two-and-a-half metre high wave through which you navigate as a curious surfer, is divided into compartments.
This layout invites you to look around and immerse yourself into works of art, exclusive design objects and the latest AQUALEX tap designs. All creations are related to water and encourage you to look at the phenomenon of water and drinking water from a different perspective.
