AOAO- where dining meets art
AOAO is a unique concept that reimagines an izakaya restaurant and bar as an immersive art experience. Named after the Japanese expression for lush greenery (青々), this rooftop space injects a breath of freshness and imagination into the bustling Japanese culinary scene. From the space, lighting design to hand-crafted resin art that flows through every corner of the restaurant, every element is designed to offer a multi-faceted and multi-sensory experience for those who visit, inviting them to be part of this creation. Truly a shimmering hidden gem amidst the bustling city.
A feast for all senses
From the moment they arrive, guests are invited to step into an immersive piece of art. Starting with a spectacular rotating stone sculpture at reception, illuminated within with a pre-programmed light sequence that complements the sculpture’s movement. Guests interested in this art piece will delight in the statement film playing next to the sculpture. Then through the corridor, they encounter a floor-to-ceiling resin art wall that amplifies the space,.
The multi-dimensional experience extends beyond the interior to the 7mx7m projection on the balcony - a bespoke visual experience that can be programmed to cater for any DJ set performance with real-time sync between visual and sound. From sight, touch to the most minute detail, every element contributes to a truly immersive experience.
Wherever you go, beauty flows
Inspired by the organic yet brilliant beauty of gemstones, resin art flows through every corner of the space—from reception to walls—to echo the restaurant’s concept. Uniquely hand drawn by our resin artist, each piece portrays the exquisite patterns and details inside of a gemstone that symbolise an enchanting greenery realm our guests step into.
Let there be light
Exquisite light design adds another facet of beauty to the space. Formed by a sequence of geometric shapes that transforms according to the ambience, the programmed light show injects a breath of rhythmic freshness to the space—creating varying shades of green shadows and reflections on the wall of resin. Projector lights are also strategically placed in the dining space to ensure they enhance and not intrude the dining experience. Through the synergy of innovative lighting techniques, dynamic scenes, and unwavering attention to detail, we transcended the ordinary, allowing diners to engage with an opulent world of beauty and serenity.
