Antica Morphett Street is the new flagship pizzeria & restaurant for owner and Restaurateur Anthony Crea. The new location is the modernist Italian, based on influences from Anthony’s family heritage from Napoli, Italy.
Inspiration was drawn from the old gated lane ways of Napoli which open up into hidden piazzas. The paved lane ways and bricked vaulted ceilings all have strong influences on the space in creating a brick-on-brick narrative for the Antica.
The other focus for inspiration was simply family and food. The Italian way of food, conversation over food and the celebration of sharing food with family. All of these ideas were melted into the space to create moments of this in the planning with long communal tables seeing into the kitchen like at Nonna’s house to capture the theatre.
The Napolitani pizza makers and Chef are seen working the Italian food in the kitchen using premium Italian imported kitchenware including the Pizza oven, pasta machine, meat slicer and custom wood grille. The traditional cooking styles of meats, pizza and pasta are all prepared fresh daily which was important to be on show to share the theatre of the kitchen.
