The unique atmosphere of this enchanting restaurant is a well-thought-out overall concept that is rooted in local history. The rich dark hues combined with brass details are echoes of the history of Oulu's seafarers. The lamps, large bevelled mirrors, customised furniture and textile surfaces create a uniquely distinct milieu.

The restaurant space creates an unforgettable and all-encompassing experience for its guests, in daily life and celebrations alike. To achieve an interesting and functional layout, the restaurant is divided into three spaces: the entrance area with the bar, the acoustically excellent dining room and Little Paris, the distinctive lamps of which can be seen from the park-like streetscape. Dividing the spaces makes it easier to control and adapt the acoustics and functions for groups of different sizes.

The eye-catching feature at the entrance is the jewel-like mosaic floor, which has a soft overall impression in a room of rich dark tones. Its scale contrasts with the large elements and the wooden sofa designed specifically for this space, as well as the large mirror surfaces. The bar and its back wall combine with the lighting to provide plenty of details to admire.

The dining room and the smaller space facing the street – Little Paris – are dominated by the paned glass wall element, which divides the areas and creates a separate atmosphere for each space. Large hanging flower lamps add a sense of light and playfulness. Natural light and the streetscape flow freely through the spaces.

Attention has been paid to lighting and its control, so that the space can be adjusted according to the rhythm or mood of the day. In addition to the subtle and functional track lighting, eye-catching interior luminaires that support the theme of the restaurant are also used.

In order to achieve a calm and pleasant acoustic environment, great attention has been paid to the acoustics of the space. Acoustic ceiling materials, upholstered furniture and wall surfaces soften the soundscape, which has a significant impact on the atmosphere of the space.

In addition to the comfort of customers, it is important that employees have a functional, healthy and safe working environment. Clear passageways guide movement in the space and reduce collisions and tripping.

In today’s world, people are looking for experiences that deliver something special in their day-to-day lives. A successful restaurant not only creates jobs but also increases visibility. The diversification of restaurant culture creates healthy competition and increases demand for new restaurants and design services.

The space offers a multisensory experience that provides a break from everyday life – a leap into a different world. At Alfred, you feel like you’re taking a small trip to Paris – just like an adventuring seafarer of the past.
