Originally a 700 sqm modernist family house designed by Niemeyer - the most distinguished Brazilian architect - in 1974 in São Paulo, the building is now occupied as a contemporary office. Distributed in three pavements, with a main entrance at an intermediate level, the house is permanently modified by the light of a daytime. Respecting this context the concept of the design is based on the geometry of the architecture, emphasizing movement, rhythm and fruition. The idea is to let the nature in, giving versatility, providing the possibility of different layouts and atmospheres during work time. The office has very few structural changes; however the traditional rooms of the former house are today planned in a different way: The original living room form a reception, reconfigured as a space for workshops; The former intimate areas, distributed in two pavements hosts sundry work spaces; the bedrooms are occupied by hot desking offices; the creative director spends his days in what was once a bathroom; finally the old garage is a collective working room. The visual language has modern and contemporary elements and the color palette is also consequence of Niemeyer’s design and nature (grays, browns and green sprinkled by contrasts). The furniture has either fabrics inspired by modernist graphics, are very contemporary and light or reused from the old office inventory.
