Italian Chef Alessandro Borghese wanted to use Neolith to amplify his colourful, dynamic and fast-paced approach to cooking, encapsulating his flamboyant personality and cosmopolitan location, in his new Milan restaurant, “Il lusso della semplicità.” A desire for originality and admiration for the Sintered Stone’s versatility drew Borghese to Neolith. In particular, he was impressed by its adaptability and how seamlessly it integrated into a specific environment, subtly adding character and individuality to a space. Neolith was used throughout the restaurant including: woods (La Bohème), marbles (Calacatta, Blanco Carrara BC01 and Onyx), metals (Iron Corten) and granites (Nero Zimbabwe). The broad selection of patterns helped give each space a distinct identity. Neolith Calacatta Silk was specified for the bar worktops, a colour fast becoming a go-to choice for professional chefs for its aesthetics as much as its practicality. Calacatta was also used for the restaurant walls, bathroom vanities, and the stairs. The restaurant also uses small, bespoke-cut pieces of Neolith as plates for tapas-style dishes. Neolith Nero Zimbabwe was used for the flooring throughout the establishment, providing a striking contrast to the widely-featured white Calacatta. The presence of Nero for the floors brings all the different areas together no matter the contrasting array of patterns used. This resulted in spaces that were distinct but inextricably tied to each other.
