We designed a store-within-a-store for Aesop located in the Osaka Station building. Our idea was to make this store stand out from other brand stores that use a variety of materials by keeping it as simple as possible. Based on this idea, we designed a space using only one color, beige, which goes well with Aesop's amber bottles. Considering that a monochromatic space looks good from a distance but may not be much fun to walk around in, we used multiple beige-colored materials to create a space where slightly different shades of beige are delicately woven together, including FRP in beige, bricks in beige, glaze in beige, wood in beige, sand wall in beige and so on. One enters the space and notices the subtle differences gradually. We proposed a design that allows people to walk around and experience the difference of perception due to distance.
