Organic shapes and stone-like surfaces characterise the interior of the AERON clothing store in Budapest, which was designed by URBA. The Hungarian brand offers responsibly sourced luxury silhouettes inspired by traditional craftsmanship and state-of-the-art design techniques. The space created by URBA amplifies the brand’s artistic and aesthetic qualities by creating an invitingly intimate space filled with clean lines, striking minimalism, and soft textures.

Located in a new building parallel to Budapest’s iconic shopping street, the calm, quiet sanctuary seeks to connect to nature with textured walls, linen feel fabrics and earthy metal details. URBA’s main challenge was creating a gently flowing space in a complex floor plan without definite functions or boundaries. Entering the store, one is welcomed by a double-height space and by adding only the most essential architectural features it accommodates 2 changing rooms, an area for retail and mingle, storage, and a bathroom. Inspired by caves, the lack of separation between spaces encourages fluidity and inspires customers to explore and interact.

The place is flooded with natural light, and the minimal colour palette is complemented by the warm tones of bronze displays, smoothly transitioning around the architectural elements of the location. The muted colours highlight the displayed clothes and visually amplify the space, while the hidden compartments and cabinets fitted within display units help to keep the store organised.

Apart from the self-levelling compound used on the floors, the whole space is covered with a natural paint free of preservatives, synthetic solvents, plastic binders and plasticisers. Based on traditional recipes, the paint is able to absorb and release moisture, therefore helping to regulate the humidity in rooms and buildings. It is also produced without water, which significantly reduces ecological footprint, saves on plastic packaging and does not need any preservatives.

The interior incorporates delicate elements that are softer and more comfortable and focused on tactile textures such as the living room like seating arrangement with a rounded sofa at its centre, reminiscent of AERON’s design values: women taking centre stage while wearing their collections. Overall the space focuses on openness and generosity, bringing people together, and offering a great atmosphere.
