Interior design for an aquarium store located in a department store. Due to department store regulations, it was not possible to touch the floor and ceiling materials, so the fixtures and walls were to be used to express the brand's world view.
Innovation:
The interior design focused on maximizing the expression of the store's unique features in a limited space, such as the "new style of aquarium that can be easily enjoyed as interior decoration" and "workshops where customers can create their own aquarium compositions in the store and take them home. "
Creativity:
Huge water tanks and water purification equipment, which are not usually seen in department stores, were placed in the storefront as display elements to attract customers' interest. The tanks are inhabited by living creatures, and now, about a year after the store's opening, an ecological cycle has been created. The walls are mainly made of stainless steel plates, and the distinctive light from the lighting fixtures developed by the brand is reflected throughout the store, creating an atmosphere different from that of other stores adjacent to it. The main materials used in the store are brown MDF board, which represents the image of "soil," and stainless steel, which represents the image of "water and light. We aimed to create a space that conveys the brand's worldview with the theme of "laboratory" while feeling "soil, water, and light," which are the basic elements of an aquarium.
Functionality:
An island counter with a table for holding workshops and a huge water tank function embedded in it was placed in the center of the store, allowing customers to walk around the counter and touch the products. It also allows staff to communicate with customers from any direction within the counter. The shelves on the wall side are all stock spaces with doors, and inside the shelves are lighting, fans, and other equipment to keep the plants growing.
Sustainability:
The interior is mainly made of recycled wood, MDF board made mainly from recycled wood and scrap wood, long-lasting and recyclable stainless steel, and other structural members are also made of recyclable wood. Above all, the aquariums handled in this store are an act of cutting out and nurturing a part of the earth's environment. Therefore, we believe that many customers will become aware of plants, organisms, water, and air through their experience at this store, which will lead to sustainability.
We have tried to design the store for this purpose.
