CODOO STUDIO and La Gildería are teaming up once again. After the resounding success of La Gildería on Calatrava Street, gildas are popping up in yet another of Madrid’s most quintessential neighborhoods. In no other place than on Trafalgar Street 15, just steps from the famed Plaza de Olavide.

A project that posed a considerable challenge for the studio: ‘to design the twin sister of La Gildería in the Chamberí quarter’. The mission was to create a space with its own character while preserving the distinctive charm of its well-known sibling.

The place, in essence, is like a Gilda: simple, but built to last. A place where the contemporary design is perfectly balanced with the soul of a traditional tavern. Think Rita Hayworth – an irresistible bite, spicy and salty in all the right ways.

If there’s one thing we love in Madrid, it’s vermouth hour, but let’s keep it real – it’s never just about the vermouth. It’s about getting together, enjoying a moment with friends, laughing and eating. Inspired by the Last Supper, we designed a massive table-bar where everyone can celebrate. But not that Last Supper – this is more like the classic Spanish line - ‘last one and we leave’. It’s a bar with no bar but not to worry, you’ll find plenty of tables, stools, and, of course, plenty of people.

Once again, we’re embracing “ruins” as the star of the show, revitalizing an old CEAS space of 1898. At CODOO, we call this “contemporary ruin” – celebrating the fleeting, the beautiful impermanence of things. As Tokisha and Rosalía say ‘Together at night, your shining steel, the shiny mirror, Versace combo’.

Take this as a love letter to the Gilda: traditional as its green olives, modern with a ‘Prada green’ twist, and sexy as the glow of Carles Riart’s Cigs for Santa & Cole. Gildas are in, La Gildería is where it’s at, and it’s here to stay in the capital.
