Typo Lounge Chair & Ottoman are Mara new products designed by AMDL CIRCLE, the studio founded by Michele De Lucchi.

As evolution of the Typo chair, this lounge version maintains its original design, enhancing its comfort and ergonomics along with an extremely contemporary appeal. Distinctive is the square-section metal tube that gives shape to the structure, in an interaction of folds and creases that highlights the company's expertise in metalworking. It is precisely in the metal structure that the focal point of Typo design lies. Starting from the study of how to bend steel profiles, through an unconventional finetuning it was achieved an unprecedented effect: by bending a square-section steel tube along the diagonal, the material deforms, curling and sharply creasing. This detail generates the intentional and sought-after 'error' that is the soul of the project.

The metal tube, worked and bent with precision, is transformed into a characterising graphic feature: a sequence of modernist lines that supports the backrest and the wide seat, culminating in a criss-cross base with a strong visual impact. A soft upholstery amplifies the feeling of comfort, transforming the new Typo Lounge along with its soft ottoman into an ideal piece of furniture for moments of relaxation and well- being.

This new version, it is already a contemporary icon intended for a variety of contexts from the workplace, to hospitality and residential - with unchanged character.

"A mistake, which together with Mara - whom we share with a constant drive for innovation - we managed to keep controlled, through a carefully refined technique that generates it, so to guarantee a mass production of the object," says the AMDL CIRCLE project team.
