Designed by renowned Italian architect Michele De Lucchi for leading Asian design brand Stellar Works, the Stay Dining Table has a round top and comes in all standard wood finishes from Stellar Works’s signature collections. The table is constructed from four pieces of wood that seamlessly join in the centre with a bevelled edge design. The legs of the table branch into two pieces, creating a tapered look. The Stay Chair is also carved from wood and the individual components of the chair are finished by hand. The seat is composed in the form of a four-leaf clover, and the legs branch into two, giving a solidity to the chair design. During the production phase the direction of the wood grain has been controlled to add an aesthetic element to the chair and highlight the natural material used. 

Innovation: Stay’s innovation lies in its desire to break away from the traditional industrial production and in its commitment to beautiful craftsmanship. All of the elements of the chair and table are finished by hand making each piece entirely unique. 

Creativity: The originality of the Stay design lies in its simplicity. Both the chair and table have eliminated the superfluous to honour nature as best as possible and out the material – wood – on the centre stage. References to nature are obvious in the chair seat, composed in the shape of a four leaf clover; while the table’s legs branch into two pieces, reminiscent of a tree. 

Functionality: The Stay table and dining chair are suited for both home and commercial environments. The design aims to give stability and comfort – the chair offers a comfortable rounded back, while both the chair and the table’s legs serve to taper the line of the structures to give them stability and durability. 

Sustainability: The main inspiration for the Stay table and dining chair came from De Lucchi’s desire to address the climate emergency and the need to change behaviour. He imagined the Stay Collection to express today’s sensitivity to the planet and decided to honour wood as a sustainable material that doesn’t create waste.
