The name KEEP MOVING represents the designs that draw on ideas of perpetual dynamism and changing light. The series re-discovers marbles’ historic sculptural and architectural roles, yet explores playing with gravity and 3-dimensional intricacies through modern design engineering. The collection launched at ARTEFACT the Contemporary Craft Fair at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour London in May 2023 during London Craft Week.

As an architectural and artistic hybrid studio from London, Studio Lux embraces the combination of 3D design, the latest computer-controlled cutting and considered traditional materials for its artistic products.

The concept for the collection arose when the waste marble off-cuts were encountered in London stone yards, principal designer Hongdi Li saw the potential of these colourful offcuts in nonconformist shapes, their resemblance to the colours and textures of planets and translated them into broader dynamic concepts for the KEEP MOVING range.

For each design, the geometric shapes were laid out to capture the marble’s natural vein and flux. Behind these poetic objects are comprehensive traditional craft skills in stone, modern metalwork including the same team behind some of Anish Kapoor’s work, along with Studio Lux’s precision engineering - driven assembling. The combination of the traditional with modern technology has transformed the materials into a unique polychrome collection.

The collection celebrates the planet earth’s natural materials, invites the audience to re-discover the elegance of marble.

ECLIPSE mirror
The design reflects the moment of two big planets' overlapping and creating shadow, the mirror, while a small planet orbiting. The marble's vein, texture and flux patterns follow the characters as Planet Earth and Mars. The detail is uncompromisingly pushed to the extreme at the tipping point.

ATOM sculpture
The process keeps the material's raw part and amplifies it with chiselling touches. The contrast between the raw and the clean cut incarnates the contemporary being born from the ancient. Audiences are invited to reveal the full and surprising view while approaching close from afar, playing with perspective and light all the time.

ATOM ceiling and wall sculpture
The eccentric sculptural designs draw on the perpetual dynamism of atom and timepieces, playing with perspective and light all the time.
