Hex is a modular system built around the hexagonal shaped seating. By adding low or high walls users, according to their needs, can create many flexible combinations- from a single pouf to a personal, acoustic-proof space for multiple people.

At the beginning of a design proces I asked myself how the next generation of a contract furniture could look like if they will answer to the questions “how people work” and “what people need” instead of being another ordinary chair and sofa, but more durable.

HEX modular system is based on a research about how people function and work in open spaces like offices, lobbies and waiting rooms. All kind of working and resting behaviours of a potential user transformed into a furniture that is easy to move, modular, comfortable, durable, flexible and is able to create a private or semi-private space for every user.

The idea emerged to a hexagon (that’s why the name is HEX) shape as this is one of the most modular shapes that exist in nature but has been rarely used in a soft seating design. Hexagonal structure is perfect for modular solutions and works well with a flat side and back walls. Because all parts are stackable and can fit into a flatpack, Hex requires less storage space and has reduced carbon footprint during the transportation.
