The random constellation of squared timbers leaning against each other at an angle reminds the designer of the tower with the steepest incline in the world, Capital Gate in Abu Dhabi, by RMJM Architects and ADNEC, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. HAPPENS upholstered stool is the result of playing with the concept of inclined towers. Four slanted, skilfully balanced stool legs create a stable seat on the hand-sewn fabric upholstery.
The weighty stool sculpture can easily be carried through life by the leather handle firmly anchored in the solid wood. HAPPENS stool is a revolution in conventional stool design. The most striking feature of the modern, bold furniture architecture is the slant of its wooden legs, whose shape, angle and lines flow perfectly into the seat cushion. Underneath, a leather carrying loop. HAPPENS is surprising, formally unique, constructively ingenious and exquisitely crafted.
The interior centrepiece is a source of good humour and conversation. The HAPPENS stool elegantly crosses the boundary between design and art. HAPPENS stool attracts all attention. Its non-conformist design is like an art installation in the room, avant-garde, polarising, inspiring. HAPPENS is a limited Collectible Design Piece and a firm favourite seat of free spirits, handmade by the artist. With HAPPENS, design dissident Daniel Heilig creates a geometric masterpiece. Resulting from his eye for the artistic potential of squared timbers set aside, the inner image of boldly inclined towers, as well as skill and finesse.
The balancing of the numerous angles of inclination is like complex mathematics. The ash or oak of the solid, four-legged, solid wood body comes from sustainably managed forests in Germany. Firmly anchored in the hand-oiled wood is a matt black carrying loop made of vegetable-tanned, full-grain leather with fine HEILIG OBJECTS embossing. The high-quality upholstery fabric is woven in an Italian textile factory in the classic herringbone pattern in red or green melange from eco-certified synthetic yarn. The extravagant seat upholstery is handmade in a family-run upholstery workshop in Germany.
