A wave-dissipating block objects inspired by tensegrity structures and molecular models. As the name suggests, a wave-dissipating block is a product used to dissipate waves. However, what caught my attention was not their function but the structural beauty of this product. FIXED TETRAS is a project to create several wave-dissipating block objects, each using a different technique, while taking advantage of the characteristics of various materials.

For example, the project developed a variety of ideas, such as an object with a structure that cannot be dismantled even though no glue is used, like the technique used in Japanese wooden architecture; an object with a seismic isolation structure using the bending of leather; and an object that creates strength by balancing the tension in the materials.

While these ideas can be applied to architecture, furniture making, and new fabric weaving techniques, I chose to focus on the beauty of the structure rather than displaying it as a functional object.
