The Bubble Island table collages the notion of domesticity and workspace, creating a hybrid object that combines the two. The table as an island, a fluid entity that breaks from the formal symmetry of 'place setting' within the organisational construct of a table. The Bubble island can be utilised in different situations, transforming from a work space function with an inbuilt bookshelf and storage area carved into its surface, into a domestic space where it can be used as a dining table with an inbuilt seating ledge.
The Bubble Island table addresses sustainability with its ability to transform into different configurations depending on the situation. Additionally, the inbuilt storage areas within the design, and the bookshelf is intended to encourage organisation and reduce clutter, promoting a more sustainable and mindful living environment. The choice of yellow as a finish colour not only adds a pop of colour to the space but also contributes to a more cheerful and inviting environment.
