ARTBOARD is a coined word created from "Art" and "Whiteboard".
It is a product that combines the "Writing" function of a whiteboard with the general use of art for "Viewing and Exhibiting". Art is generally for the purpose of "Viewing, Decorating or Owning", not needing functionality. ARTBOARD is particularly unique in terms of adding the function of simply "Writing" to art.
Art with a "Writing" function will be accepted in inorganic spaces where importance has just been placed on productivity and efficiency, and will promote change into an enriched colorful space with humanity.
That is, the brand of ARTBOARD means a product creating a workplace rich with artwork.
For ARTBOARD, a system of returning a certain percentage of the proceeds to the artists with disabilities and the welfare facilities they belong to has been designed. This system enables the artists to gain continued job opportunities and a place for sustainable creative activities.
ARTBOARD is a product designed also for the purpose of offering as many people with disabilities as possible the joy of sharing art with society and having it seen by many people, as well as getting absolutely fair compensation through creative activities.
Artworks created by artists with disabilities in welfare facilities are rather small. Their small but amazingly detailed artworks are read by a special high-precision scanner and stretched to a resolution that allows output up to the size of a large whiteboard.
The ARTBOARD, on which the artists’ delicate touches and even small inkblots are precisely enlarged, provides new discovery and supports rich and creative thoughts for the users who confront it.
The shape of ARTBOARD is composed of gentle curves so that the uses can write on it in a free and divergent manner, not stereotyped, when they confront it. 5mm-thick acrylic sheets are bonded to the output sheets with the artists' artwork to provide protection against impact and increasing durability. At the same time, the high transparency of acrylic contributes to enhancing the artworks' texture.
In addition, the top surface of the board is laminated with a special clear sheet, enabling erasable writing which is the function of a whiteboard.
Joints between acrylic sheets are carefully chamfered so as not to spoil the beauty of the artwork due to marker ink and eraser shavings collected at the joints.
