ARCHISONIC® Cotton, a fully circular acoustic material
ARCHISONIC® Cotton embodies the essence of sustainability by using only natural and renewable materials in its production process. The primary component of this material is cellulose, which is derived from cotton linters, a by-product of the cotton industry that would otherwise be discarded. Cotton cellulose is a 100% natural and resilient material with a rich history dating back to the 12th century in the Italian papermaking tradition - we create lightweight and structurally sound acoustic products with a unique and contemporary design.

The production process follows a closed-loop model, emphasising the recycling and reuse of all materials, producing zero waste and using minimal energy, generated by Impact Acoustic's own solar power system. Even the water we use in the production process is managed in a closed loop, reducing waste to zero.

The cotton linters are mixed with high quality clays and natural coloured earths, without the addition of artificial dyes or mordants. The range of 24 natural earth pigments matches the existing ARCHISONIC® Felt collection based on upcycled PET and has been curated by the trend scouts at Colour Hive. This attention to detail ensures that the Italian made product not only meets the functional requirements of sound absorption, but also offers a beautiful and natural aesthetic in line with current design trends.

The final shape of the product is achieved through a cold moulding process. To promote energy efficiency and minimise the environmental impact, we aim to eliminate the need to heat the drying room. By opting for a more natural drying process, we reduce energy consumption and ensure sustainable production practices.

ARCHISONIC® Cotton can absorb up to 60% of sound, making it a highly effective acoustic absorber. It has been designed to meet the most demanding professional requirements, making it a popular choice for a wide range of applications. Overall, ARCHISONIC® Cotton is an innovative and sustainable solution that embodies the concept of circularity. By using natural and renewable materials, designing a closed loop production process and ensuring that the product is fully recyclable, it offers a restorative and regenerative solution to the problem of sound absorption.

Although it is a meticulously handcrafted process, we harness the power of engineering, Swiss precision and technology. This harmonious fusion allows us to create a material without significant energy consumption or adverse environmental impact.

ARCHISONIC® Cotton can be distributed and used in a variety of ways to meet different needs. At the end of its life cycle, the material can be easily processed with minimal impact. It can be shredded and reintroduced into production, transforming it into a different product with unique shapes and colours. The complete reusability of the material requires only the addition of water and a small amount of solar energy.
