First look! Fifteen shortlisted projects in the Woodstock Design Contest have been revealed.
The French design contest was open to students plus young designers and architects who were asked to create projects using American hardwood.
The entries were organized into three themes: stand-alone furniture or products, an interior design element that structures spaces, or extension-renovation projects. The first was open to students only, while young graduates were invited to enter the later two categories.
The 15 finalists’ works will be showcased at the upcoming Maison & Objet in Paris (20 to 24 January) on a custom-built 100-sq-m exhibition stand. On 23 January, an award ceremony will be held.
The contest was launched in 2010 by AHEC (American Hardwood Export Council). It has received applications from students at 20 different schools in France and Belgium. The award's jury was chaired by Christian Liaigre, plus Philippe Chaix, Guillaume Delvigne and Catherine Pierre.
