The Gourmet Tea by Alan Chu

BOOKMARK ARTICLE

A Sao Paulo tea shop is a chameleon in its colour scheme and ability to disappear completely from view.

The pop-up style shop is located in 25-sq-m corner lot within a shopping centre, tucked behind flap-like panels. When the store is closed, the panels lie flush with the wall to show only a colour-blocked grid.

However, the panels can be swung open to reveal an entire store behind them. A cash counter inventively slides forward, while products are displayed on shelving units hidden on the backsides of panels.

Brazilian designer Alan Chu says his inspiration came from the 35 colourful tea tins which are sold in The Gourmet Tea shop.
