A circular exhibition offers a fresh perspective of Finnish design identity at Habitare 2024
  1. Seeking to unveil the ‘layers of stories, periods, aesthetics, and processes embedded into design’, Yatofu layered form, colour, and materials to create an enriching experience for Habitare attendees at Helsinki’s Messukeskus centre. - Aleksi Tikkala
  2. Invited to design Habitare 2024’s theme exhibition entitled 'Layers', Yatofu’s value-driven response expands traditional notions of Finnish design by revealing the stories, processes, and values behind its creation. - Henri Vogt
  3. Produced in collaboration with the event’s creative director Päivi Helander, the exhibition displayed the diversity and depth of contemporary Finnish makers. - Henri Vogt
  4. Yatofu brought together multiple designers and companies, with vinyl flooring from Tarkett to a Durat tabletop and Svensson textiles. - Henri Vogt
  5. Two main features delineated the space: an exhibition tunnel clad in carbonized wood from Hiil and a central, tent-like structure covered by translucent textiles, reminiscent of a fabric lantern. - Aleksi Tikkala
  6. Materiality conveyed the theme of revealing layers, with vibrant lime green elements rendering the exhibit’s framework visible and translucent fabric opening spaces from the outside in. - Aleksi Tikkala
  7. Yatofu used exposed structural frameworks and spatial layering to play with the idea of concealing and revealing elements, creating a constantly shifting perspective for visitors as they walked around. - Aleksi Tikkala
  8. With a strong focus on sustainability and design circularity, all materials will be repurposed or recycled post-exhibition, embodying a thoughtful approach to both design and environmental impact. - Henri Vogt
  9. Yatofu’s exhibition – replete with sustainable materiality – remains true to Finnish design sensibility yet also challenges the limited definitions often associated with it by highlighting the richness and diversity of its design community. - Henri Vogt
  10. By embracing circular design principles – both materially and stylistically –the exhibition enriches visitors’ understanding of contemporary Finnish design while reinforcing its significance within the design industry as a model for sustainability and material sensitivity. - Aleksi Tikkala
