Superpop – a new collection from Miniforms – shows the manufacturing creativity possible with waste materials.
Furniture manufacture Miniforms emphasizes materiality, craftsmanship and innovation, represented by its expressive range of lighting, furniture, accessories and more. One exemplary collection is the new Superpop line, which combines plastic recycling and imaginative artistry to achieve original design. Conceived by Paolo Cappello, the collection comprises a lightweight coffee table, side table and stool.
Visually textural pieces that highlight the immediate power of colour, the Superpop designs come in a fun variety of reinterpreted primaries. Discarded polyethylene is sorted by type, then melted at a low temperature to maintain its material characteristics. It’s a process that simultaneously lessens the environmental impact of manufacturing, underscoring Miniforms’ brand values.
‘Our job is a collective commitment,’ explains a spokesperson. ‘We are craftsmen and we are all different. There are carpenters, glass blowers, [those] who shape ceramics, who upholster armchairs, and who recane chairs. Each of us inherited the know-how from our family's traditions and retained it. Machines help us, but our hands do the most.’
Meeting the criteria for sustainable design that’s also stylistically versatile and functionally agile, Superpop’s clean lines and mélange of tones are harmonious with classic and contemporary interiors alike.
