A pulsating LED grid embodies the tempo and excitement of carnival. Set along Camden High Street – Samba Swirl is a sizzling self-service frozen yogurt bar, luring customers in from cold London winters. Reinventing the budding brand’s image, Mizzi Studios devised an interactive lighting scheme that echoes through textured metal and tropical timber.
Much like vibrantly painted geometric facades found in Rio de Janeiro, an intertwined LED network transcends Samba Swirl’s walls, ceiling and floor. With a reflective facade and seamless back wall mirror, the light scheme appears to go on forever. Running up a series of staggered cabinets, LED strips light up like slot machines as yogurt dispenses from subsequent stations.
Towards the pay and weigh counter, a geometric iceberg stands alone as a singular sculpture, offering a slew of fresh fruit toppings. The rock-like installation’s textured and reflective surface picks up all the projected colours the space emanates. Demarked by undulating LED paths, a wooden clad sitting area is illuminated by Tom Dixon pendant lamps.
