Lifestyle and design trade fair Maison&Objet is returning to Paris in January 2024, with special focus on the retail and hospitality sectors.

Biannual Paris event Maison&Objet is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, marking the occasion with the theme ‘Tech Eden’ for its January edition. It will take place at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center between 18-22 January 2024. Speaking to the need to find balance between nature and technology to improve comfort and wellbeing, the highlighted Tech Eden concept will be the red thread uniting all of the fair’s content. Notably, two new programmes targeted at retail and hospitality will be launched, providing resources for navigating this hybrid reality.

Every season, nearly 30,000 shops attend Maison&Objet. Programme ‘What’s New? In Retail’ gives these retailers – and design practitioners – an experiential space to explore innovative merchandising solutions and participate in workshops. Visitors can collaborate to envision stores that transcend mere points of consumption to be meaningful destinations. Designed by François Delclaux and BETC Design, the accompanying ‘Supersoft’ zone incorporates inspirational moments, highlighting stylistic trends, new spatial uses and relevant products. Hosted by sector leaders, workshops will address topics including merchandising that goes beyond the visual, how to integrate nature in-store and brand development in the age of TikTok.

To be found in the What's New? In Retail exhibition, the Supersoft zone will display an array of inspirational 'moments' for retailers and designers.

Guided by Maison&Objet’s Hotel&Restaurant itinerary, hospitality professionals can spend their time at the Hospitality Lab, which is aimed at driving the creation of inspiring, multifunctional and friendly public spaces. Conceived by Peclers Paris, this season’s Trend Forum sheds light on the Tech Eden theme, with three ‘escape capsules’ indicating its importance in creating sensory, wellbeing-boosting hospitality experiences. In addition, Studio Rev was given carte blanche to develop a phygital installation depicting a future-facing vision of hospitality, and Matthieu Lehanneur devised Outonomy, an ‘ecosystem for living’ influenced by the outdoors. Talks dive into the local and global in the hotel industry, tailor-made storytelling and more.

From meeting  suppliers and learning about new trends to using products in real-time and gaining inspiration from scenographies, visiting Maison&Objet opens the door to greater design possibilities. With the retail and hospitality sectors changing at an unprecedented rate with our evolving lifestyles, it’s a necessary platform for taking these spaces further.
