Crafting tranquil spaces that foster user wellbeing starts with the components that comprise them. Material Bank, a free platform for sampling tens of thousands of materials from hundreds of brands, gives designers access to a wide selection of surfaces, finishes and furniture that makes realizing comfortable, relaxing spaces possible. FRAME curated a selection of seven of the material library's best.
Filo
Apavisa
Finished with a streaked textile-like finish, Apavisa’s Filo collection of porcelain tiles adds a soft, muted tactility to indoor and outdoor spaces. Pictured above in the Beige colourway, the tiles, also in Grey, Green and Black, and available in two formats, are a stated yet neutral surfacing option.
Elements Coffee Table
Ethnicraft
Composed of microcement, the Elements Coffee Table by Ethnicraft maintains its off-white coating with a varnish of water-based finish to repel common substances and fluids. The high-performing, earthy stone finish ensures that it retains its clean neutral coating.
I Cocci Siciliani
Fioranese
Drawing inspiration from Sicilian sandstone, Fioranese’s I Cocci Siciliani ceramic porcelain tile collection is dotted with bits of stones, rocks and pebbles. This achieves a naturally uneven stone effect, creating textural and visual variety.
Twin.s
Ariostea
Twin.s, pictured above in the Anise colourway, is a ceramic indoor surface by Ariostea characterized by a gentle beige palette and delicate patterning. Akin to natural stone, the material, available in 6 mm or 8 mm thickness, offers a soft finish with a durable quality.
Copacabana
One Mario Sirtori
One Mario Sirtori’s Copacabana fabric is a linen cotton blend woven textile. The material, defined by the look and feel of its natural fibres, is used to upholster the Piero Lissoni-designed Albarese sofa, pictured above.
Roots
Texturae
Designed by Gianluigi Landoni as part of the Segni e Tracce collection for Texturae, Roots is a digitally printed vinyl indoor wallpaper that recalls the colours and textures of natural landscapes.
Master Oak Natural V2A
Unilin Panels
A synchronized press system gives Unilin Panel’s Master Oak Natural V2A surface the appearance of solid oak, achieved through a patented production process combining wood and high-pressure laminate. The material can be used for a variety of indoor applications such as surfacing and furniture.
Every month, the FRAME team will select noteworthy products from online platform Material Bank, the most powerful way to search and sample materials. Stay tuned for next month's curation which examines recycled and waste-based materials with circularity at their core.
