An ethereal design evoking celestial bodies, Miniforms’ Rificolona light brings poetry and instant ambience to a space.
Suspended by a thread or nestled atop a black stand, Rificolona has an extended orb shape that emanates a mesmerizing yellowish glow. Designed by Florence-based architecture, product and interior design studio E-ggs for Italian manufacturer Miniforms, the luminaire has an almost planetary effect, taking inspiration from the textured, candescent appearance of the moon.
The designers liken Rificolona’s recycled polyethylene surface to one that has been sprayed by a graffiti artist. Its semi-transparent, cream-coloured body, dotted by denser, darker specks, gives the design its otherworldly, moody feel. The impact is deepened by the simple hovering mechanism of the hanging pendant, and the minimalistic setting of the floor edition.

It's an atmosphere that can be adapted easily by a user throughout a day too: the shade itself can be rotated and tilted, throwing soft brightness over different corners of a space. With dimensions of 80x40x80cm (hanging) and 80x53x200cm (standing), the designs are large enough to make a statement in an interior without overcrowding its visual composition.
Rificolona is something of a portal, a piece with the potential to deliver a light-fuelled moment for meditation as if you’re gazing up towards the moon.
