Crafted from aluminium, durable acrylic fabric and bouncy, cold-moulded polyurethane – prized by many manufacturers for its thermal insulation, robustness, supreme support and tear-resistance – the pieces are designed to withstand the elements while maintaining the rich character of indoor furniture. Massaud’s architectural past is evident in Pasadena’s structural nuance, but so, too, is his product and lab design experience. Gently rolled sofa arms evoke the ovoid curves of a volcano-shaped stadium; ergonomics are considered as intently in the smart structuring of a side table as they are in a slick speedboat. There is ‘nothing exaggerated,’ according to Massaud, and it’s certainly true. Each piece avoids the prosaic in favour of soft profiles and a lightness of line. The collection is a seamless extension of Massaud’s long-standing partnership with the vanguard Spanish furniture maker.
