Marking its 70th anniversary, Andreu World looks back and celebrates its impact on the furniture design and manufacturing industry through its steadfast, value-driven approach.

What began as a small carpentry workshop founded by Francisco Andreu in 1955 in Alaquás, Valencia, Spain, has grown into a leading international design furniture brand. This year marks Andreu World's 70th as a commanding force in the responsible design and manufacturing of tables and seats for hospitality, outdoor and workplace settings. Andreu World has produced design icons with industry titans including Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola, Jasper Morrison, Alfredo Häberli, Pearson Lloyd, Piergiorgio Cazzaniga, Benjamin Hubert and Lievore Altherr Molina. Throughout the year, Andreu World will commemorate its seven-decade legacy through a series of events tracing its history, evolution and future plans.

Andreu World will commemorate its 70-year history through a series of events across its global network of showrooms, highlighting strides made in sustainable design and manufacturing.

The global celebration kicked off at this year’s edition of Madrid Design Festival. A dedicated exhibition titled ‘70 Years: Manufacturing a Better World’, aptly hosted at Andreu World’s Madrid flagship, highlighted its longstanding commitment to sustainable manufacturing. Among the major achievements showcased was Andreu World's status as the first manufacturer to obtain FSC® 100% certification for its entire catalog and manufacture all collections in line with Cradle to Cradle® standards. Andreu World has since attained B Corp certification and is set to achieve its goal to have all materials and processes as part of the circular economy and become carbon-neutral – originally a 2030 target – this year.

Andreu World has created new materials such as BIO® and Pure ECO® thermopolymers, ideal for use in their innovative designs.

Beyond its sustainability accolades, Andreu World has made major strides in the manufacturing process, from innovative technology integration to the development of new materials such as BIO® and Pure ECO® thermopolymers. Despite its technological aptitude, Andreu World’s origins in artisanship continue to shine through, carving out a particularly strong niche for the brand where craft and precision come together.

Andreu World's latest title Travel Well Seated explores conscious hotel designs and the places they occupy from the perspectives of the designers behind them.

As another commemoration of Andreu World's position as a leading voice in design – particularly in the hospitality sector – the brand introduced a new title, Travel Well Seated, directed by Ramón Úbeda, written by Álvaro Castro and published by Lunwerg (Grupo Planeta). This is the third publication in the series, alongside Eat Well Seated and Work Well Seated. The book spotlights 50 spaces across four continents that push the bounds of hotel architecture while emphasizing the wellbeing of the planet and the people who use these spaces. Articulated by the architects and designers behind the featured works, the book outlines recommendations of sights to see in the areas surrounding the chosen spaces. Travel Well Seated serves as a guide for the conscious traveller and underscores Andreu World’s continued alignment with promoting balanced, sustainable hospitality environments.

While looking back on the last 70 years, Andreu World’s value-driven approach to the design and manufacturing of furniture remains steadfast, paving the way for the next 70 to come – and beyond.
