The 100-sq-m store has an usual shape for a Parisian shop, as it stretches 20m long. A wood tunnel doubles as a shelving display and connects the main shop in front and a waiting room in the back.

‘The tunnel works as a theatre decorum into which doors and holes organize all the technical storage, access, restroom and extra display,’ explains Yves Pasquet of FREAKS freearchitects. At the end of the tunnel is a large image of mountains and a lake that brings the space into a parallel reality.

The cool mint hue covers the floor, walls and ceiling in the front room, wrapping guests with a refreshing – yet slightly uncomfortable – aesthetic. All furnishings were found in second-hand shops and markets, which Pasquet says was done to not ‘overly design’ the space.
