Milan’s Domus Academy is partnering with FRAME for its new two-year Master of Arts programme in Design Innovation, which explores innovative emerging technologies and contemporary design approaches and models.
To begin in October 2023, Domus Academy’s inaugural Master of Arts in Design Innovation aims to breed a new generation of professionals that are system gamechangers and leaders. Targeted at international students with a background in product design, architecture or a related design field, the programme will provide academic training highlighting the myriad innovations enabling designers to address and solve the challenges of today – and tomorrow.
A strong advocate for the education and support of rising designers, FRAME is partnering with Domus Academy. Our founder Robert Thiemann will provide his industry expertise and knowledge in judging the body of final thesis projects, awarding the most promising, future-facing work. The selected research will go on to be published in an extended four-page article in a print issue of FRAME magazine.

Leading up to thesis development, the Design Innovation programme offers students a suite of pedagogical activities, from workshops, seminars and lectures to laboratories, cross-disciplinary projects, boot camps and external visits. Embracing design as a cultural act, its curriculum looks at the value of social science for alternative approaches, the foundation of design and its history, technological processes and businesses models based on sustainability and circularity.
One of the first post-graduate design schools in Italy, Domus Academy promotes cross-disciplinary learning and holistic practice. Design Innovation students will graduate the programme with the tools they need to tackle the pressing social and environmental issues of our times, developing spaces, products and experiences that disrupt outdated norms and meet the highest standard.
