The only thing better than great design is great design that can be flipped, swapped, angled, arranged, covered and recovered – just how you like it. These ten adjustable, modular projects from Milan Design Week prove that customization is key.
PROJECTS
Nordiska Galleriet (No Ga)
Nordiska Galleriet (No Ga) has launched its first collaboration with renowned creative director and designer Willo Perron. Unveiled at Capsule Plaza during Milan Design Week, the Projects collection includes a series of modular tables and mirrors that can be combined and reconfigured in endless ways, allowing for unconventional seating positions and arrangements.
DORNBRACHT ATELIER
Dornbracht
Bespoke finishes. Dimensional adjustments. Nimble solutions for spatial challenges. Dornbracht Atelier is a new initiative from the German bathroom and kitchen fittings manufacturer. Presented during Milan Design Week, the service allows for tailoring and tweaking to a T.
COLOUR FIELDS
Rive Roshan
Debuted at their presentation, Chiaroscuro: A Light in Darkness, Colour Fields by Rive Roshan is interactivity at its finest. The light totem reacts directly, as visitors enter its sphere, responding with a warm, uplifting glow. Six color-shifting panels composed using glass marquetry were complemented by a soothing yet nostalgic soundscape. As light shifts within, the glass objects’ surfaces refract and reflect.
HENN SOFA
Objekte Unserer Tage
The classic sofa becomes a puzzle for the curious with Objekte Unserer Tage’s Henn Sofa. Nearly infinitely reconfigurable, the plush modular sofa invites a game of interior Tetris. Soft, ergonomic and available in a brilliant range of bold hues, the Henn Sofa doesn’t sacrifice style or substance in pursuit of flexibility.
SPACE BETWEEN
Universal Design Studio
The possibilities were endless – or almost – in Space Between, the collaborative installation created by Universal Design Studio for Design Hotels at Milan Design Week 2025. Like a Rubik’s Cube, the 16-piece modular system could be rotated and reconfigured in 24 different ways. Visitors were invited to rest, play, lean, lounge and document their thoughts at the seat-meets-table.
O SERIES
A-Poc Able Issey Miyake
A-Poc Able Issey Miyake's exploration of the relationship between ‘a piece of cloth’ (hence A-Poc) and ‘the human body’ ventures into the realm of lighting with the Type-XIII Atelier Oï project. In collaboration with the design studio, A-Poc Able introduced the O Series lamps at Milan Design Week 2025. The cordless, collapsible lamps sport a shade that can be adjusted or changed according to the season, day or mood.
HAVE A GOOD DAY
Humanrace x USM Modular Furniture
Even the shower can offer a moment for contemplation and customization, according to USM Modular Furniture and Humanrace. In their Milan Design Week 2025 installation, the collaborators presented a brilliant emerald green modular shower featuring Laufen fixtures. The free-standing shower, USM’s Haller system, makes wellbeing accessible and adaptable in any space.
POSI
Umut Yamac x Luceplan
Playful and versatile, Umut Yamac’s Posi is inspired by ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arrangement. Designed for Luceplan, the table lamp is activated when its biophilic stems are inserted into the base. The stems come in a variety of heights, making personalization for a space easy.
CONTOUR SERIES
A-N-D
Dreamt up by Lukas Preet for A-N-D, lighting from the Contour Series is not only sculptural and rooted in materiality but also adaptable – their fluid design allows for flexible aesthetic expression and use. Presented at Euroluce, the series comprises a table, floor and pendant version.
