Every week we highlight the FRAME Awards submissions which have been frequented by our readers and jury. Below are the five most-viewed projects between 1 and 8 March 2024, shared with feedback left by the jury.

JUNNO’S TABLE

Masanori Goto

Junno’s Table combines dishes from around the world with Japanese traditional cusine (Restaurant, 5.35). Masanori Goto’s design called for an ambience where modernity interweaves with tradition. The designer made use of rattan furniture from Hiroshima, the unifying element in the space. ‘The best aspect of this project is the modesty and simplicity in the use of materials,’ says Rachele Albini, head of interior at AllesWirdGut.

TELEKOM HAMBURG

Lepel & Lepel

Inspiration, warm hospitality and customer service mark the flagship store of Telekom in Hamburg (Single-Brand Store, 6.24). The design concept draws inspiration from the city’s port, with wave-like ceiling installations and fluid mirroring effects. Emphasizing the brand’s identity, the magenta-coloured staircase is ‘an excellent example of how well-executed colour strategy can convey confidence and enhance the brand,’ says Helena Ryhle creative director at White Arkitekter.

MADE-LIM

None Space

Wangsan Church was transformed into a cultural space while preserving its 120-year history (Cultural Space, 6.24). Honouring the existing structure, None Space utilized the church’s original material to create immersive exhibition spaces that evoke sensory experiences of the building’s past stories. ‘Experiential spaces throughout and surprising natural elements that are more artistic encourage emotional response from users,’ says Abby Scott, interior design principal at HDR.

CURLY LAB

Miriam Barrio Studio

Located in a modernist building in the heart of Barcelona, Curly Lab is a salon specialized in treating curly hair (Single-Brand Store, 6.92). Miriam Barrio Studio restored the traditional Catalan ceilings, which also served as a chromatic guideline for the warm, copper-toned colour palette. ‘The exquisitely crafted space demonstrates a melticulous attention to detail,' says Magdalena Klosek, Creative director at IKEA. ‘The concept is seamlessly integrated into every corner.'

KID'S PLAYGROUND

Kohina

Sustainability and innovation played key role in the design of the maritime children’s playground, Skidi Port (Entertainment Venue, 5.93). The design is a testament to playfulness and imagination, with the enchanting fairytale characters, vibrant gates and whimsical touches contribute to the overall friendly and cheerful atmosphere of Skidi Port. ‘The designer’s adept use of patterns, colours, and retro elements with a contemporary flair adds a unique charm to the overall design,’ Klosek says.
