The Cabanon

Star Strategies + Architecture and Board

At just under 7-sq-m, The Cabanon is a fully equipped living space on the top floor of a 1950s-era building in Rotterdam designed by Star Strategies + Architecture and Board (Small Apartment). Despite its minuscule footprint, it even has two infrared saunas and a whirlpool bath. It’s organized into four main spaces, delineated through different materials: a living room, bedroom, toilet and spa. ‘An innovative and interactive approach to showcasing the planning and interior design,’ says Bani Singh, founder and creative director at Grounded Design. ‘The creative process is impressive and the material choices align well with an eco-conscious perspective.’

Alphaicon Tokyo

Deinocheirus

Deinocheirus designed the Tokyo store for Japanese dog garment brand Alphaicon, imagining the space for the four-legged companions as the main client (Multi-Brand Store). Different solutions were implemented to craft a comfortable familiar space for the pets such as its colour palette of grey, yellow and blue – compatible with the vision of dogs. ‘An interesting concept with many clever design solutions,’ says Singh. ‘The idea of positioning the dog as the actual client is engaging. It would be great to see this concept further integrated into the design to emphasize a dog friendly environment that appeals to both dogs and humans.’
